I’m excited to announce that I am in the process of finishing up my second book! I’ve been working hard on creating the artwork, writing in response, designing the cover above, and adding my own flair to it all! Each and every detail is a manifestation of my instinct and intent.
Outside Looking In is being created in conjunction with my exhibit of the same title! All of the artwork that will be in the book (and in the exhibit) is inspired by American artist Edward Hopper’s urban paintings, and the moody feel of his work. If you are not familiar with Hopper’s art, you may recognize his famous “Nighthawks” painting displayed at the Art Institute of Chicago.
This body of work is a tantalizing trifecta of my hand-cut paper collages, hard-edge abstract paintings, and ekphrastic prose writings. All of which are “in conversation” with each other.
Outside Looking In is fragrant with deep intoxicating notes of film noir, femme fatales, jazz noir (of which I often listened to as I wrote), fashion, beauty, and architecture. All of which is, quite literally, a sight for sore eyes in my new book.
